Surveillance

Surveillance was based on a pencil sketch I drew in Botswana. The male lion held the pose only briefly, so I just got a few lines down, but the idea remained with me. I prefer to paint animals behaving naturally, unaware of the viewer, so this pose was perfect. For this painting I started with a strong background wash of fluid acrylic, keeping the sky bright to highlight the lion.
