Summer Morning on East Pryor Mountain
I have spent some beautiful and peaceful summer mornings in the Pryor Mountains of Southcentral Montana. The Pryors are ancient and mysterious and are sacred to the Crow Tribe, who have held these mountains in their hearts for hundreds of years. One thing quite notable about the Pryor Mountains is the profusion of wildflowers found there, especially in Spring, but continuing on into the summer months. This painting was inspired by spending time there... smelling the fresh scent of pine, sagebrush, and crisp mountain air, far above the lowlands where I live. It is painted in Alkyd, my chosen medium, and it took me about 6 weeks to complete.
