In this original oil painting, I lovingly sculpted the African Violet, then placed it in a calm, slightly abstract setting. The pot and surface it sits on are indicated as one abstract shape, with no detail to compete with the flower. The plant sitting in the light looked like a beautiful little sculpture just waiting to be painted.
