Remember Pierrette
This painting is a tribute to Pierrette, my Mother-in-law whom I never met. Pierrette hand stitched the white tablecloth with floral motifs about 60 years ago: it was gifted back to my wife recently. I set up the still life in my studio using four pieces of cloth. Two pieces fall into a blue glass bowl: the white linen tablecloth made by Pierrette and a yellow tablecloth made by my wife. A blue cloth frames each and the background is a white cotton sheet. This painting brings Mother and Daughter together again given their love of sewing and fabrics.
