Above and Beyond
A studio oil painting made from sketches and photographs after a week of painting in red rock country of Colorado. I had scrambled, with my husband, up to the top of this formation called the Saddlehorn with stunning views across the Grand Valley. The first evening, it was out of my comfort zone, but I did it! We climbed it two more times to catch the magical evening light as the October sun drew it's last lines across the rocks and valley. This place got to me, experiencing the ancient geology in the present, with the light, wind and even the full moon rising! I knew there were more paintings brewing.
