The Road Less Traveled

This early morning scene in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado captured my attention with its long shadows and the beckoning curve in the road which draws you in. Those features told the story I wanted to convey. I tried to emphasize the motif by restraing from including too much detail in the grove of aspens and the mountains. I employed a variety of techniques to keep the viewer's eye engaged and moving. At the same time I rendered a calm sky which balances with the road and provides a sense of serenity. I'm sure there is something just as interesting just around that bend...
