Rock of Ages Amidst Birches

Walking in the woods in Maine, I came upon this immense rock along a well-worn secluded path. The wind fluttered through the birches that stood like sentinels guarding this private stretch of forest. Painted masses to capture values and general colors, then finished in my studio, mostly from memory. Oil on canvas.
