El Indio

This is a casein painting done en Plein air in San Diego, CA. The view is the outer part of the patio of the iconic El Indio Mexican restaurant. I started with some washes then built up paint thickness as the painting progressed. I was initially attracted to the perspective of the wall mingled with the the warmth of the day and the purple/blue shadows. There isn't a category for casein so I entered it in the Water color and gouache category. It would be great if Plein Air Salon could add casein to the list of medium choices.
