Hells Backbone Canyon, Utah
On a recent paint out in Escalante Utah, we were sent up an obscure forest road. Climbing ever higher amongst the trees, we got lost once, but managed to find out way to the Hells Backbone bridge. Emerging from the trees we were greeting with this fantastic canyon as the light hit it It was deep. Who knew!. We set up well back from the rim! Fortunately there was no wind and we had a great morning painting this little known but incredible canyon. The shadows were fun to work with. And in the distance, there was the boring forest we had just driven through.
