Fall On The West Fork

This is a plein air painting done in the fall in Hope Valley, California about 50 miles south of Lake Tahoe, Ca. I had painted several small studies that morning but I went bigger this afternoon as the color was phenomenal! This scene is the west fork of the Carson River which runs through the Hope Valley from Southwest to Northeast. I love painting here in that pretty much all day long you can catch the view backlit from the sun adding more interest to the the scene.
