The Green Swimmer of Butera 28

I was inspired to paint this watercolor after staying at the charming Butera 28 Apartments in Palermo, Sicily. I joined a cooking class where we picked fresh herbs from the terrace garden and learned how to make delicious Sicilian dishes. The turtles who live in the garden were so calm and graceful, swimming in the small pond or resting on the rocks. I decided to capture one of them in my painting, using green and blue tones to create a contrast with the warm colors of the city. I wanted to show the harmony and tranquility of this hidden oasis in the heart of Palermo. This painting is a tribute to the turtles of Butera 28 and the wonderful memories I made there.
