After the Fire (2021) began in 2019 with a month-long residency in Glacier National Park. The goal was to create a panoramic painting of the landscape encompassing Sperry Glacier and Sperry Chalet as seen from the summit of Edwards Mountain. The chalet was being rebuilt after having been lost to a wildfire the previous year, and Edwards is the only mountain that affords one a view of both the chalet and glacier. During my time in the park I made frequent summits of Edwards Mountain, hiked 160 miles, and completed seven small paintings. I then distilled the nearly 300 hours on location into a single image.
