Folly

Folly is a portrait of my friend Eilish, behind the bar where she worked. The painting is almost life size since my aim was for the viewer to feel like they are at the bar with her. The composition was inspired by Manet’s Bar at the Folies-Bergère, hence the title of the piece. Though rooted in traditional technique, the piece has a more contemporary and cinematic look.
