I've found that winter grasses are one of the most difficult landscape subjects to paint. It takes so much squinting to see the mass rather than the individual pieces. And then addressing the light and shadow on those masses, rather than simply rendering the small details, continues the challenge. I think I gained a few extra crows feet by the time I finished this one!
