Copper Ribbon
Painted en plein air at the Grand Canyon. Sometimes the beauty just leaves one rendered speechless. The late-day atmosphere took over the warm hues of the canyon this day desaturating the hot colors to subtle variations of blues and violets taking you deep into the canyon and beyond. The Colorado River below, which had been silty from the summer monsoons, created an unexpected copper color. I felt the color harmonies of blue and violet with the warm oranges created an interesting and ethereal image of the Grand Canyon that we don't usually see.
